All Things New!
Hello Friends,
Sunday is the first day of 2023. There's no winter storm in the forecast (I checked). There's no pandemic lockdown threat (let's hope). We hope you can join us on Sunday because we have a special baptism/testimony/communion service. Two young men: Eric Sun and Tim Zhang will be baptized. Paula Harkness will share about her mission trip to Cambodia. We will have communion to celebrate the forgiveness and new life we receive from God through our Lord Jesus.
We will continue to livestream our services on-line.
Group learning:
- our Sunday Bible class on Faith and Work begins reading the book of Revelation on January 8
- Bereans Fellowship is watching and discussing Season 2 of "The Chosen", their next meeting is Saturday January 14 at 4pm (in-person)
- Our English Congregation Woman's Bible Study continues reading through Exodus, their next meeting is Thursday January 12 at 8pm (over Zoom)
- Our Friday Night Men's Group has a new series by Brant Hanson called "Unoffendable", starting Friday January 13, 7:30pm (in-person and over Zoom)
And looking ahead, our Mandarin congregation is planning something special for anyone who wants to join in on the afternoon of Chinese New Year (Sunday Jan. 22) and the English Ministry is hosting a free skate (again for anyone who wants to join in) at Mattamy Home Ice from 4-6pm on Family Day (Monday Feb. 20).
Finally, our Sunday afternoon sports resumes on Jan. 8. Our schedule for January is
Jan. 8 Volleyball
Jan. 15 Basketball
Jan. 22 Volleyball
Jan. 29 Badminton
Rumour has it that pickleball is being considered so if you are interested in North America's fastest growing racquet sport, please let us know that you want to try or join in on an afternoon of pickleball. Also, dodgeball was a hit with the younger crowd so if people want to have family friendly games of dodgeball let us know.
