The May Long Weekend

Hey Friends,

Are you looking forward to the long weekend? Sure, you are. It’s a time to be with friends, be outside and be a little more relaxed as we feel the summer approaches.

I had my eyes opened through last week’s presentation. I never thought of a mission facilities design team whose client base in mission work across the globe. It makes sense though. If we raise money to build a clinic in an area needing a specific type of care, who will design and build it? Underneath the learned skills and professional standards our presenter Greg Young wanted to emphasize the truth that has guided him in his career: “If we are to impact the world, our world, for the Lord, we must ask the Lord to have His eyes and His heart for people. In doing so, our identity will grow to one who is not only loved by God but also commissioned by Him and all people will become ‘our’ people.”

You will see that common thread in our Mission Sunday presentation. Our friend Christine Lee will share from Jesus’ teaching the guiding principle of Matthew House, our Toronto Baptist Ministries own Refugee Housing and Support Program. In our Sunday class time, we are inviting people to have an interaction with a Christian sister who made her way to Canada seeking asylum. Sunday Worship is on-line. Our interaction time following is in-person only.

Next Sunday we are back into Exodus and looking into how God responds when people cry out to Him for help and how that involves us. Our Sunday class on Proverbs continues.

We also have Mary Leung at TCBC for 2 Sundays holding workshops on relationship dynamics between couples.

May 24 is the second part of her discussion on “Family of Origin” issues and June 2 is a workshop on “Conflict Management.”

I know May can be a busy time and appreciate that you can follow our Sunday worship on-line and enjoy meeting those who can join us in-person for our Bible teaching and fellowship groups. Enjoy your weekend friends.

In Christ,

Pastor Nolan
