Some Shorts, Lots Of Socks And A Pile Of White T-Shirts
Hey friends,
I will be away next week. As the picture shows I’m packing up to do a lot of walking. And, yes I will be wearing shorts and a white T-shirt just about all day and every day. Seeing as the weather will be warm next week, I’ve packed to make a mid day change of socks and white T. To anyone who is interested, I can tell you about the experience when I’m back on the 11th.
Rev. Ken Foo will be preaching this Sunday and leading the Communion. We have Jeff and Mary leading the music, Jasmine and Deacon Anthony assisting in the Communion and our Livestream and Audio Team made up of Steve , James , Tim , Marco and Kevin . Our church services would not be able to run without the participation of our congregation members.
There is a time to rest though and my guiding Scriptures for the month ahead come from Mark 6:30-31
30 The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught.
31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” My hope and prayer is that on your journeys this summer, you will find rest with your community. On our Sundays, we hope to be that sanctuary were through prayer, and in the presence of Jesus, people will find rest for their souls.
There are 2 upcoming events that I would like to draw your attention to.
1) Chinatown Festival - August 17 to 18
We join the many vendors and organizations and highlight the role of a local church in the community. On Sunday, August 18th, the English Ministry is responsible for setting up the booth after our service. We need to transport all the material (usually packed into boxes from Saturday) to our tables on Spadina Ave. and lay everything out.
If you would like to volunteer to sit at the booth Saturday or Sunday afternoon, please sign up here. CSJ Volunteer Sign-up
2) Welcome Back Sunday Lunch – Sept. 8
Summer vacations done, Students have stared school, and our church will gather again for worship, regular fellowship, bible classes, discipleship courses, and outreach ministries. This is the week to hear about it all. This lunch is for everyone to share some food, mingle with people, chat about how the summer went and to hear from different ministry leaders on opportunities to participate more in the life of out church. Find out who and when we have choir practice, Sunday classes, Alpha course, Bereans, Barnabas, Men’s Group, etc. We were made for community.
In Christ,
Pastor Nolan
