From Thanksgiving to Mission
Hello Friends,
We thank Martin Tam for last Sunday's message on Worship as the reason we gather, to remember and experience the joy of Christ's resurrection and our new life through His Holy Spirit. Martin has completed his one-year Pastoral Intern of TCBC serving alongside me in the English ministry. His service to TCBC came at a time of need and he has helped in the preaching, teaching and youth ministry. He will be continuing to lead the Thursday Night Bible Study of John reading from the First Nations Translation. Thank you Martin for all the additional help you provided to the English ministry this past year.
For tomorrow's Anniversary Sunday service there will be no change in time. We will gather and begin livestreaming at 10am. The difference is that the Anniversary speaker (who is speaking in the Mandarin service) has provided us with a pre-recorded message in English that we will watch together. All congregations: Cantonese, English and Mandarin will be hearing the same message, but in their own language. There will still be Sunday Class on Ecclesiastes starting at 11:30 that people are welcome to join in-person or on-line.
The Anniversary service marks the end of October and our theme of Thanksgiving. Looking onto November, our theme becomes Mission. As we receive and acknowledge all we are blessed with: new life in Christ, the knowledge of the Holy through the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit's guidance and inspiration, the fellowship of believers--we sense that we are called into His service. Over the next weeks we will look into how God's compassion invites us to extend compassion to others. We will also be hearing from and praying for our Cambodia mission team that leaves on November 19.
