English Ministry Updates
As we are enjoying a beautiful Saturday in July, let’s remember to pray for the recovery of those communities where Hurricane Beryl hit the hardest. Even thousands of km’s away from the centre, our city had flooded roads. I can’t imagine what it would be like if our homes and our church was right in the path of the storm.
For those going through personal storms, or know of people who need help, our message on Sunday is about being persistent in prayer. I hope to deal with this topic in an honest way and to challenge us to be known as a praying community. Our summer teaching is on the Prayers of Jesus, and we are learning from his example and his teaching.
Our English Ministry Retreat will also have a prayer focus. We will learn to pray for discernment: “Listening and Discerning” hearing God more clearly when we face different choices in life.
The deadline for EM Retreat Registration is quickly approaching and we want to emphasize that your spot is only secured upon receipt of payment. If you’ve registered but not yet paid, please submit your payment before July 21st to avoid losing your spot.
There are two payment options:
Make cheque payable to "Toronto Chinese Baptist Church" or
E-transfer to finance@tcbc.on.ca
Please include "English Retreat" in the note section when submitting payment.
Good news for those who are feeling a bit of summer slump in their physical activity. Beginning next Sunday, July 21, we have Volleyball every Sunday from 2pm to 4pm at the Chinese Presbyterian Church gym. Once again TCBC and CPC are working together to provide a space for you and your friends to have fun, enjoy playing sports and care for one another.
To all TCBC members: your reply is being requested concerning the ordination of Pastor Jason Lai (Cantonese ministry) and Pastor Frank Zhang (Mandarin ministry). Please pick up the letter addressed to you as a TCBC member and return the reply portion by Aug. 10. There will be a time of interaction with both pastors on Sunday July 21 at 12:30pm (1st floor fellowship room).
Finally, an invitation from Toronto’s Chinatown Tomorrow Planning Initiative Team:
“We wanted to send out a friendly reminder that the survey deadline is quickly approaching. We would like to invite everyone to fill out the survey (if you have not done so already), and it would be greatly appreciated if you could please share the survey with anyone you know who may be interested in this initiative as well: www.chkmkt.com/chinatownstudy. The survey will be closing on Friday, July 19, 2024.
Enjoy a beautiful Saturday afternoon. God is good!
Pastor Nolan
