Dear Friend of TCBC,
Please be informed that in line with the directives given by the Government of Ontario, there will be no church services after March 15 until the COVID-19 situation clears.
Our civic leaders are discouraging large gatherings and we should comply (Romans 13:1-5). Please keep in mind that these directives by the province are pre-cautionary in nature and that there is no need for alarm. The avoidance of larger-type gatherings is a consensus measure by health officials and it is our civic duty. Other than that, life of course goes on (Psalm 91).
In the meantime, we encourage everyone at home to spend time each Sunday in worship. Though we’re not able to meet as a whole church, Sunday is still a ‘day unto the Lord’ (Leviticus 23:3) where we are called to rest, reflect, and set our hearts on things above (Colossians 3:2).
We will upload resources early each Sunday morning on our website, on the Sermons page. We hope that you will use them to worship alone or in a small gathering. These resources will vary slightly each week as we continue to educate ourselves in producing on-line content. But the foundational elements of worship – prayer and God’s word – will be available to you every week.
It’s evident that we are living in unprecedented circumstances. Many are feeling unsettled. The temptation to withdraw from others and from living out your faith is pressing. Therefore it is all the more important that you continue to pray – pray for those who are sick, pray for the elderly who have more reason to fear, pray for our church, pray for our city. It’s important that you continue to serve – call a friend to make sure they’re okay, check in on your parents, organize video conferences for fellowship. And continue to grow – take in much of God’s word during this ‘quiet’ season. Strengthen your heart with the knowledge of who God is and what he has done, and though we can’t be together as a whole church, continue to hold on to the promise that ‘where two or three are gathered, there am I’ (Matthew 18:20).
Your pastor and the leaders of TCBC’s English congregation are still in your service. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask. If you know of someone in need, please contact our caring ministry using Englishcaringministry@tcbc.on.ca.
