Christian Education

“Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6 NIV)

Children’s Worship and Sunday School runs from 10am to 12:30pm. Parents and guardians are welcome to check-in their children to participate in our program starting at 9:45am. We use KidCheck for our check-in system and follow Plan to Protect guidelines in our child safety policy. Children who attend are expected to be respectful to teachers and helpers as well as willing to learn and participate in the Children’s program.

Our Youth join our worship service that begins at 10am and gather afterwards in our youth room. We use KidCheck for our check-in system and follow Plan to Protect guidelines for youth gatherings. Teens are expected to be active participants who are willing to learn and encouraged to ask questions about faith and life.

For Adults, TCBC believes it is important to not only attend Sunday morning worship, but to also seek ways to grow and deepen in understanding the Scriptures. We aim to host Adult Sunday School classes that dig deeper into the Bible to challenge and assist in your growth as a disciple of Christ. There are classes geared specifically for College and Career generation. We encourage those is other life stages to find a study & prayer group to join. These meet at different times in the week and are the ideal place to experience community and accountability as you grow in Christ.

We do not follow a single curriculum in our Adult Christian Education program. We have foundational courses and seek to build on those foundations. Foundations are important and we encourage anyone, no matter how long you have been attending church, to ensure you have the following foundations (or equivalents) in your Christian Education:

1. Fundamentals of Christianity (Alpha Course)

In our English ministry, we recommend the Alpha Course. Depending on the version, the Alpha course is a 10-12 week experience that is open to anyone. From time to time we will host different Alpha courses. There is core discussion series, a Youth discussion series, a Cantonese and a Mandarin series. All these have the same goal: to create a space, online or in person, where people are excited to bring their friends for a conversation about life, faith and Jesus.

For more information on this course and updates on when the next class will be offered, click Alpha Course.

2. Discipleship Fundamentals (Discipleship Explored and/or Purpose Driven Life)

Discipleship Explored is an 8-week walk though the book of Philippians that lays the foundation of Christian beliefs and behaviours. It is practical and the whole course is summarized in the phrase: “To live in Christ.”

The Discipleship Explored series is part of the Christianity Explored Ministries. Find out more about Discipleship Explored and Christianity Explored

The Purpose Driven Life Study explores the question “Why Am I here?” At the core of this study is a 40 day journey using the book “The Purpose Driven Life” and coming together as a group to discuss how the daily readings challenge us to think about Jesus and his calling on our life. Find out more about Purpose Driven Ministries and how to make the most of the rest of your life, now that you identify yourself as a Christian.

3. Freedom in Christ (Breaking patterns of the past and having the power to live for Jesus)

“We equip individuals and church leaders to overcome whatever is holding them back from living the abundant life in Christ – and then help others do the same.” Freedom in Christ Ministries

This 10-week course is missing in the Christian education programs of many churches. It is not enough to know what we should do as Christians and how we should then live. When we are being held back by lies masking as truth, past sinful habits, and our natural resistance to change, we will never be fully alive in Jesus. The theme of this course is captured in Galatians 5:1 “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

Please let us know if you have any questions about the above courses or our Adult Sunday Bible class. You can call the church office (416-596-8376) and ask for Pastor Nolan or you can send you inquiry to
