Hello Friends,

This Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent. I have attached two digital devotionals that you may find helpful.

The Advent 2021_FINAL.pdf file is entitled “The Gospel of Advent” and describes the fuller meaning of Christ’s birth. Following this will provide a good foundation to follow our Sunday messages.

The Family Advent Devotional is a family advent devotional that I hope will provide those with children a means to get together and share about the meaning of Christ.

We have permission to distribute both.

Last week we had 62 attending in person. Our capacity limit was 65 so it is timely that we are moving ahead and following our church’s Proof of Vaccination policy that has been recently forwarded. Toronto Public Health will allow churches to lift capacity limits only if they follow standard PoV protocols (like they do in restaurants and gyms). For this week we are asking you to:

  1. Continue with the online preregistration and COVID pre-screening
  2. Bring your Vaccination Certificate or QR code when you come to service. If you have a medical exemption, please bring the letter from an immunologist or cardiologist who are the only ones qualified to write a Covid vaccine exemption letter (due to the rarity of the conditions under exemption)
  3. Bring a government issued ID with the same name and birth date on the Vaccination Certificate or QR code. (You will only need to show this once if you give us permission to keep your vaccination status, not personal information, on file.)

On Saturday December 11 TCBC will be hosting a Traditional English Carol service from 7pm to 8pm at TCBC.

The purpose of gathering is strictly to worship the Lord through singing Carols together. There will be singing along with a short Christmas message that will be Christ and community focused. Consider this an invitation to come with your friends who like singing carols and as a chance to meet members of the community. Friends who cannot attend in person are invited to lead us to sing through a pre-recorded video (and Yes I will be asking some of you who live out of town if you would consider recording your favourite song and so we can sing with you that evening)!

You may have heard that TCBC is planning to implement proof of vaccination before Christmas.  This is the direction set by the governing body of our church and implemented by our Reopening Action Committee. In order to test the Proof of Vaccination Protocol (PVP) or check-in process,  the  Re-opening Committee has started asking Sunday Service attendees to voluntarily show proof of vaccination. This is what we would like you to do:

Looking ahead, on Nov. 27 TCBC is in charge of preparing meals at 40 Oak St. If you want to join our kitchen team and serve between 3pm and 6pm, please e-mail me and I can put you on our list of volunteers. We need about 10 people and as of now we are still recruiting.

We have more than enough copies for everyone AND to invite you to pass this onto a friend or members of your small group so you can share in the devotions together.

 
Finally, instead of having an in-person Christmas Eve. November 10 Update

Dear Friends,

Remembering what it was like on the eve of Remembrance Day last year is a sobering feeling. For the first time in my memory there were no public observances in 2020 of the day we celebrate our freedom and remember the cost. We were only allowed to gather in very small groups and to watch services on-line. We were also unsure of how this pandemic would end. Today we have hope that things are getting better, and have some assurance that people–especially seniors are better protected. There is much to give thanks for.
Central to our worship is the life freely given to us in God’s Son whose sacrifice won our eternal freedom from the guilt of sin. We have full assurance of our salvation. Whether we worship in our homes or gather in-person at our church we worship the One who is Worthy and who’s love is real.
If you wish to join us in person this Sunday please follow the link below to pre-register. This speeds up the check-in process. There will be changes coming to our check in as we adopt the Vaccine QR certificate verification. For now though the procedure is the same as in previous weeks. We thank you for your patience and acceptance of these additional steps to increase our safety.

Hello Friends,

Can you believe it’s November! That means we turn back our clocks this weekend. Please “Fall Back” as we return to Eastern Standard Time this Sunday.

 

Sunday Worship
Last Sunday we had Deacon Anthony Hui preaching on Luke 17:11-19 “Say Thank You to Jesus”
Thank you Dr. Hui for calling us to be a people who take initiative in showing thanksgiving.

This week is Communion Sunday. Please have some juice and bread or crackers if you want to participate. In-person attenders can either bring their own elements or use the prepackaged communion juice and wafer.
You are invited to come in-person. Here is the pre-registration link if you wish to attend our service at St. George Church. Our worship starts right at 10am and we must keep to the time because this is a livestream event.

Lastly, let’s thank our volunteers and participants who shared in our Oct. 31 GLOW event where we met some of our neighbours and provided a hot drink, treat bag, cotton candy and Smores.
